Advertizing in SL is a tricky business.  You should certainly follow Angel's advice and pay the L$30/week to list your business in search.  You can also place a classified ad by using the appropriate tab in your own profile.  I have never had much confidence in classified ads, personally, although I have tried them in the past. You'll get more exposure if you join a consortium of businesses on your sim or businesses with a common interest.  Such groups sponsor special events, hunts, and use other tricks of the trade to attract customers better than individual businesses can do alone.

For my business, the most effective ad is my Marketplace store.  Opening a storefront in Marketplace doesn't cost a thing.  Sales there help your account balance, of course, but the storefront is equally valuable for visibility.  Many people (like me) use Marketplace as a search engine for finding items that they later purchase in world. Just be sure that your Marketplace store has a SLURL to the in-world location, and that every item you sell includes an LM to it, to attract repeat customers.
