I have tons of Clling card folders and even more trash bin folders

Take a look at this JIRA. At the moment, there is no known fix or workaround.

ETA: @Charlotte - Thanks, I missed that Last I saw there was no fix.

It seems the answer would be to contact support and request a Fix Inventory Folders be ran on your account.

You may have problems with Support if you have only a Basic account, because this assistance isn't part of Basic account support services.  If you run into problems with them, quote Mani Linden's comment; it might prod them into action on your behalf.
