We will be introducing a change to make our rendering consistent between non-deferred and deferred rendering settings. Prior to this correction objects set to Shiny looked very different between the two modes. We realize that some of you have done work with the current deferred rendering behavior in mind; please get the beta release of the Viewer so you can see what the change will bring and can make adjustments. The 3.2.5 beta viewer is available at the bottom of http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/

If you're uncertain what this refers to, you can review the JIRA here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SH-1912. Please ask any questions here, not on the JIRA since it's Passed QA and we won't be monitoring it closely.

Related to this, we are currently collecting information on your interests for a Material System solution project. Please review the thread http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Mesh/Materials-Project-Wishlist/td-p/1057107 and add feedback for what you would like to see in a Materials solution.

I looked at it and added some pictures to the jira. The match with/without shadows is very good, but here is the one nasty artefact with the deferred. Top two rows are with shadows on, bottom with shadows off. Increasing shiny left to right. Note the banding of the upper shiny area in the picture with shadows. Should I make a new jira for this?

Actually, I spent about an hour altogether looking at it in various ways. It's nearly perfect (asin works as intended, not necessarily as everyone would wish) and as far as I know the artefact I saw may well be unique to my particulat gpu and driver. They must have tested a lot to get it to where it is. They cannot test everything. That is what betas are for.
