I had this same problem in the beginning as well. I believe you need to save it as a png image (secondlife allows those types as well)

You need to save it as a TGA  with a transparent background, not a standard TGA. An alternative is a png, but again, it MUST have a transparent background. It is actually loading just what you sent it . You need to send it "less" *wink*.  Most programs will do transparent pngs and tgas. I always use the tga method.

 

Good luck. Also you can upload your texture temporarily (it goes away and just shows as gray after awhile) if you are using a third party viewer that suppots that function. Many do including Phoenix, Firestorm and Imprudence. That way you aren't paying for your texture trials. You can also log into the beta grid and upload and test there.

Not sure what your save options are but I have a "save for web" selection.  This saves the image created with anything untextured set as transparent (the white parts you see)
