to cut down on script usage, I suggest making huds an add-on installation into the sl client itself instead of an in-world attachment. The more scripts an avatar has attached, the more laggy the sim becomes. And when a sim becomes laggy it gets very frustrating when trying to move and do things. so, there's one of 2 ways this could be done. 1, when sellers sell huds with their products, once the product is purchased a downloader would open on the client that would download and install the hud automatically, or provide a download link to download ande install manually, or have the downloader in-world ask before downloading the add-ons. Also have the ability to turn them off if it's taking up too much screen space. This could also potentially allow many other great enhancements by linden labs they could really expand the functionality of second life with this ability.

has been lots of chat over the years about this. seems the consensus is a viewer that has a plugin framework and a proper API. linden not ready to do that yet seems like. some tpv makers have looked at it. is a whole heap of work to do tho and not many ppl got enough free time to do it

one of the ideas is that a ugc hud/game service could be done as a plugin that suppress certain lsl functions or even bypass the sim script server altogether on a sim or estate where that capability is enabled. would be quite a few ppl be interested in making roleplay/game/event/teaching type client side plugins that interact with their game/event/supply service both in and outside sl

even things like granting access to the estate. can only come to our estate if u have our plugin loaded. can see schools that teach 3D building classes using something like that. maybe even making exam and test modules plugins as well for their students. not just rl schools but inworld schools as well

is all kinds of possibilities really. is quite a few caveats about all this tho and probly needs lots more thought. loading a plugin is a opt-in mechanic tho so can ameliorate lots of stuff just bc of that
