countrypony
So I've never done any mesh before, and I know it isn't easy to get started, but i'm going to give it a shot.First, it seems that it would be good to import a character to make the clothing, but which character should I use if I were to plan on selling my clothing and how do I get that character?Second, I saw something about a test, does anybody know were to find that? And finally, I'm looking for good tutorials to use with blender (unless anyone has another program to suggest, that is free), just so I can get used to how the program works. Zslash Cyberstar
mesh i would say is way easier then sculpt. also you can do more with a mesh then sculpt also it performs alot better. i dont see any minus for mesh vs sculpt.. and for your free programs, blender is your best shot, it has everything u need from modeling, animation, uv mapping to baking etc... id suggest to look up some beginners tutorials for blender, there should be plenty of them on youtube even
Knutz Scorpio
For learning Blender the tutorials at Blender Cookie are the best I have found so far. For uploading mesh, first you have to have payment info on file with LL, then you have to read through and pass their Mesh Upload Status Test. The tutorial I've been going through for static meshes is here. For clothing you'll have to further learn about rigged meshes, a point I haven't reached yet, but the previous two steps should be enough to keep you busy a while. hibit Spad
Two really good places to start: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Blender The second link has some really good tutorial links. Don't be afraid to read the old messages here. Some really good advice and detail info in some of those articles
Coby Foden
To get started with rigged mesh clothing, this is excellent: It explains how to import SL avatar mesh to Blender and how to rig mesh clothes.
