If you were banned, you should have received an e-mail from Linden Lab that explains why.  It also explained how to file an appeal if you think they they made the wrong decision.  Nobody in this forum can help you, because we are all SL residents like you.  All you can do is follow the instructions that you were sent.  They will not respond to a telephone call about this matter.

In answer to your question, to dial the USA from anywhere abroad, you need to enter 001 and then the US city code (415 for San Francisco) and then the local number.

However, the course of action LL recommend -- and, I would think, require -- in such cases is that you submit a support ticket, as described here.    So that's what I would do in your situation.

It was very foolish of you to allow your friend to access your computer.  You don't say so, but it's possible they used your account as well.  Linden Lab does not know if the person using your account is you, or your friend.  You are responsible for how your account is used.

If your friend copybotted while logged in on your account, on your computer, you are responsible.

If your friend used their own acccount and copybotted on your computer, it is your friend you should be talking to, not Linden Lab.  Your friend is responsible for LL banning your computer from Second Life.

So sorry.  Get a better class of friends next time.

This is your second thread about this problem.  In your first thread you never mentioned that a friend, using your computer was copybotting.  You led everone to believe that is must have been a mistake.  I responded in that thread that Linden Lab does not ban on anyone else's say so......they do investigate before they ban anyone (that may not be true for a suspension or hold on an account, but for bans it does).  They have logs for nearly everything that happens on SL and it's those logs that the use to determine what they will or will not do with any abuse report (which it's pretty obvious someone AR'd the copybot....or your friend).  That first thread was decietful (and I believe intentionally so).

Because I believe you tried to convince people that you knew nothing about the why for the ban, which now you have admitted was false, I don't believe you now.  However, with this new revelation you just made about your ban it does explain why you did get banned.  Your first "lie" is the reason I don't believe you.  And I can pretty much assure you that any Linden Lab employee who winds up with your appeal (assuming you actually try to appeal the ban) is going to think just like me.........you did know what your friend was doing and, in all probability, you helped in some way (maybe even to the point that this "friend" is nothing more than a alt of yours...which would make you the actual copybotter).  It's your computer and even if not your account you are responsible for anything originating from your computer (unless you were hacked without your knowledge in which case you need to contact your local law enforcement for some resolution).  Your IP was not banned........your computer was banned.  That means the hardware in your computer was specifically banned.  In all probability, more than a single hardware device is banned (any hardware device that has a MAC address can be blocked).  IP bans are pretty easy to get around and LL is knowledgable enough to know that so they make it harder for you to re-enter.........you ether have to be pretty computer savy (which you don't appear to be) or you need to get a new computer (and maybe change your ISP) to re-enter SL.  It looks like Linden Lab banned you on purpose and I really doubt they are going ot change their mind..........and with the first thread you started then this one with another wild "not me" plea I'm 100% in agreement with LL's banning you and your computer.  We have enough copybotters in SL right now.......it looks like we have one less.

I want to reply to paperdoll.

No linden lab does not fully investigate. I have known many friends thaty have been banned without any notice no email and obviously no investigation.

I'm not sticking up for any copybot project I think they are a very serious issue bt lets not get carried away about LL.

LL's got a really long way to go ontheir customer service system. they may not ever change but I hope they do before they lose sight of who's really making SL what it is.

For bans.........they do. Why do you think there's so many complaints about griefers (and even copybotters) not getting banned? It's the investigation that just doesn't support the reports. Suspension and holds often do get imposed pending investigation (or maybe they are waiting for the user to respond). People also "don't get an email"..........for a ban they got one. If that person has spam filters that could could sometimes block the email and if the person has their email client delete the "spam" on close it's gone. Many people use Internet emails that they seldom check........or have closed.......or some bogus email when they sign up. If they got banned they got banned for reason. There is an appeals process that can only be initiated from the the email they recieve.........as long as you have a valid, active email that you check and you don't have your filters set in such a way as to block (and delete) suspected spam you get the email.

Linden Lab likes to have residents registered....they don't kick them out without cause.

"My friend was making a copybot on my computer. I was not !"

I have to laugh and cry at the same time. As far as I am concerned though, if I were a Linden and I am not, knowing you knew your friend was developing or using a prohibited piece of software on your own computer and you did not report this especially when fully understanding the risks and consequences of it's use on the virtual economy, I would hardware ban you too. :)

In short, if you weren't bothered as your friend setup shop to exploit the game, you did get what you deserved so don't bother hassling them when this decision seems so very cut and dry. Become a better person, find better friends, then come back.
