When you sit on a "pink ball" usually you get a pop up window which asks if you want to animate your avatar. You must to accept it clicking "Yes". If not, you just sit on the balls and your avatar does no animate. Don't forget also to turn off your AO (if you wear) as already mentioned. You sit on it, and while you are seated you cannot move anywhere else. It is "posing" you in that particular animation at that particular spot. It does not need to ask your permission to do that.
