If you refuse to make the phone call then there's the posibility that your problem will never get resolved.  But that's up to you.

 

I use a debit card to pay my premium membership plus any lindens I might purchase.  I had to change my billing information a year or so ago and the first step in that process is to delete the current information.  Second step is to put the new information  in.  I didn't get a message saying that the change was failed but it did not work.  I waited a few hours and checked again and it still had not completed.  I called billing to check why..........5 minutes later everything was fixed.  It's your choice, of course, but if you won't call billing, you might just be stuck with no billing information on file.
