Hello seashell. Take a snapshot in world and save it in your computer. The pic saved with the extension .png. Open your profile --> Edit profile --> Profile picture --> Choose file --> Open --> Upload. With the new web profiles, you can't use a picture directly from your inventory as your profile pic. You have to save it first in your computer and after you upload it in your profile. Acceptable extensions are: a) .png b) .jpg c) .gif with maximum size 5MB. If you have difficulties to do that in world, try here: https://my.secondlife.com/seashell61 (this is your profile).

Depending on the viewer you are using (that is a Linden viewer 3 for sure and possibly some third parties) you no longer change your profile from WITHIN the viewer.  The good news is that you save 10 linden :D.  Try updating your profile on the web and see if that works for you. A TGA file will not work on the web.

It looks like you changed your profile photo a couple of hours ago. By the way profile photos are typically of your avatar :D.  The other way to work on your profile would be to use a third party viewer. Most of them are still using the old profile method that we are so used to.
