sunshine Juneberry
I found out a while ago about the debug setting for permissions after people were asking for me to make my supposed MODIFY permission items modify.I found out my permissions werent sticking because they were set while the objects were in my inventory.Since then i have always rezzed objects and then set perms and checked for the "slam bit" in the permissions. But yesterday i was sending out some shoes to someone who didnt get a delivery and by chance decided to check permissions. They looked fine when i checked in my inventory....no slam bit shown, but when i rezzed the shoes they were full perm....i have no idea why as i had set the perms when rezzed, and no idea why the debug permissions didn't work. Arwen Serpente
That's disturbing, sunshine! Did you check the other shoe or any other pieces in your inventory to see if it was just that one behaving that way?
Chelsea Malibu
This has been an issue for me too. I re-rezzed and changed permission on one of my products at least 10 times last night before it finally stuck. In fact, at one point, I completely unlinked it, set each piece to the correct permissions then relinked it which is what finally fixed it. In 5 years I have never seen anything like this. Tiffy Vella
I went through something similar last night, trying to set 3 items to copy/mod/no transfer with copy/nomod scripts. It took a dozen rezzes, pull aparts, openings, checkings of properties in my inventory, re-rezzings to change back to what I was intending after mysterious reversions. It's a stress and sheer waste of time. I will need to recheck again today, and I bet the perms are not as I'd intended. This is a pretty basic tool, and the basis of commerce. sunshine Juneberry
I've been checking a lot of my items and finding quite a few mis-set perms. All with the debug permissions showing they are correctly set. Almost all of them have perms set to MOD/COPY/NO TRANSFER....and will show this in debug permissions ie: no slam bit....but when rezzed will show TRANSFER ONLY permissions
Arwen Serpente
Sunshine, it's obviously a very concerning issue...have you taken a look at the JIRAs for a similar issue (I know there are JIRAs about perms going off track but that was mostly with the setting of perms in the bulk edit/inventory option, not when they are properly set on an item rezzed inworld). Could it be something to do with the sim/server/region you are in/on? It certainly warrants a JIRA if one doesn't exist!
sunshine Juneberry
I commented on two JIras that fit whats going on. One of the Jiras was about the new DEBUG PERMISSIONS not showing in object profile. What i think has happened is I'm still using Phoenix with the older style UI. the new viewers have a new Debug Permissions, where the debug will not show in in object profile. The object has to be rezzed in order to see the new debug permissions which now show on edit floater. So basically if your on an older viewer i wouldn't count on the debug permissions in object profile working correctly. Old or new viewer, if you want to check to see what true perms are your gonna have to rez items.
