Go to secondlife.com (login) > Account > Cancel account (https://secondlife.com/my/account/cancel.php?lang=en-US). Read in that page the advice about why maybe it's not a good idea cancel a Basic account (see http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Accounts-overview/ta-p/700019#Section_.5 )-
