Do I need a new viewer or something?

Without some computer specs there is very little anyone can do to help.  Launch your viewer but don't log in.  Under the help menu click "About Second Life".  You'll see the basic computer specs that the viewer reports to the servers.  Copy and paste them back here so we can get an idea of what the problem might be.

 

To add to this thread use the options in the upper right hand corner of you initial post and then choose "edit".  This software does not allow you to post to your own thread........don't ask why.
