Hello Cinnamon. Till someone else gives a better answer, you find them with right click on the object --> Edit --> Content tab. Example: If you have purchased a pair of shoes with resizer script, after fiting you can delete the script. After you can't resize them again. Generally i avoid to delete them.

Not sure if this procedure is viewer dependant but anyway...open the About Land window (World - Place Profile - About Land)  You will see a button on the General tab that says Script Info.  Click that and then click on the My Avatar tab.  This will show you everything you are currently wearing that has a script.  It gives the memory used by each script along with the object it is in and where it is attached to your avatar.

Frankly, the whole script monitoring is mostly just another witch hunt like so many that have gone before.  IMHO most of the lag people experience is due to their network connections and usage habits.  SL runs really bad when you are downloading from iTunes. :smileysurprised:

Hope that helps!

ETA: I realized after reading this that I didn't actually answer your question!  Since only the scripts in objects you are wearing effect sim memory, they are the ones to be concerned about.  So knowing which objects have scripts and how large they are is the place to start.  Then you need to decide if the script in the object is really of any value to you.  The classic example that most people point to are the color changing scripts used in clothing and the sizing scripts used in clothing and hair.  So if you have a pair of fav boots with a sizing script that are already properly fitted, then no reason not to remove the sizing script from the boots assuming they allow for that.

I'm in Cinnamon Lohner's camp on this one.  Scripts are the catch all for lag and they seldom are the cause at all (yeah a script that is so poorly written it can cause problems.......but mostly with other scripts).  Scripts run on the memory that is left over afther everything else is taken care of.......like your computer's operating system will only allow a program to run if there is enough available memory after the memory necessary for the OS to run.  It will never allot memory to a program that it needs to run.

If you want to delete unnecessary scripts....

(1)  Determine whether you have permission to modify the object the script is in.  If you don't, that's the end.

(2) Determine whether you have permission to copy the object the script is in.  If you don't, be very careful about deleting the scripts, because you won't have a backup to use when you change your mind.  If you do, make a backup now.

(3) Determine whether you will ever need the scripted function again (How many times do you plan to resize your hair?)

(4) THEN, Open your Edit tool (CTRL + 3), select the object, go to the Contents page, and delete the script.

When people tell you to "delete scripts", they are most often referring to the resizing scripts that are in many wearable items like hair or shoes or jewelry.

If your item has a resizing menu (you left click the item and a menu shows up with buttons like +5, -5, Revert, or Delete), then it has these scripts.  Some are efficient, but some items have a script in every single prim, and can create a lot of lag.

The way to reduce lag with these items is:

1.  Make a backup copy of the item.

2.  When you have re-sized the item so you're happy with the fit, use the Delete or Kill Scripts button in the resizing menu.  This will remove the scripts automatically.

You will no longer be able to re-size the item...which is why you made the back up copy.

If you have to RIGHT click the item and use the Editing tools to re-size it, it does not have resizer scripts and you don't have to worry about any of the above.

This is a VERY old thread -- almost a year out of date. NOBODY else will see your question here. Please start a new question instead of using someone else's.

The answer to your question is easy, though, If you want to delete the building, select it and hit the DELETE button on your keyboard. If you want to modify it, check first to see whether you have permission to do that. If you do, then use your Build/Edit tools to make any changes. If the hair is no mod, you can't remove scripts unless the scripts themselves have a "remove" option. Unless you have permission to modify the hair, you can't do ANYTHING to it. The best choice is to buy hair with mod perms or a script that is designed to be deleted.
