In the first instance it will allow scripts to confirm whether or not L$ transfers were successful.  The implication of the documentation is that other transaction types will be included later.  At last :-) A way to check that vendor deliveries actually arrived!

[ETA for Innula: - Yes it's only money now but "transaction_result() ... event triggered from an llTransfer* call (currently only llTransferLindenDollars)" seems a strong indication that other transaction types are intended and presumably that means inventory transfers.]

Is it?  I thought it was a way of keeping track of the script's attempts to give money to people, and its success or otherwise, not of the success of attempts to llGiveInventory() or llGiveInventoryList() that might happen as a result of someone paying the object.

Wouldn't be surprised, llTransferMoney (or whatever) and llTransferInventory are getting some love on the JIRA. I'm still rooting for llTransferLindenWhatevers, I've been needing HUD payments for years now...
