Hello ClarieLynn and welcome to SL Forums. Here you can see the acceptable payment methods for SL. Try another card. If you still have problems the best you can do is to contact Billing Support. There are toll free numbers available 24/7 and support is in english only.  If none of those numbers are in your Country you can email to: support@payments.secondlife.com

Maestro is acceptable for those residing outside the USA and on the local payment system as detailed here although with a proviso that not all methods work in all countries.

I'm not too familiar with what is accepted in the US if that is where you are.

Can you use a verified Paypal account instead?

You can also use an approved third party site such as VirWox to purchase Lindens.
