Fabeha
for example, i want my avatar to pick a book from a bookshelf and place it back. Do i have to write a LSL script to make my avatar interact with an object?
0 Cinnamon Lohner
You would definately need to create an animation. How you trigger that animation could be a script. But the animation needs to be there to control the movement of your avatar. --Cinn
0 Rolig Loon
If you want to give the appearance that your avatar is actually picking the book from the shelf and then putting it back, yes .... you need a very specific, custom-made animation and it will need to be triggered by a script. The script will probably also need to rez a book that your av holds, and will need to create an empty space on the shelf to give the appearance that you have rmoved it. That sort of action is really quite complicated. If it's done as I just outlined it, the animation and script will work for that one location. Normally we don't go to all the trouble of creating that illusion. If you want an av to get a copy of something that is on your bookshelf, you use a simple vendor script that gives the item when you click the shelf. It doesn't look like the av actually picked up the book, but it ends up in her inventory. That bit of scripting (no animation at all) is quite simple. 0 Fabeha
if I go for the animation and scripting it, what software will I be needing. I have worked with Qavimator for animation, will it work? For scripting, LSL Editor is okay ?
0 Rolig Loon
Yes to both. You have many choices for animation and for script editing. Those two are certainly popular ones that work for many people. The important element, of course, is the skill that it takes to use them creatively. Have fun with this interesting project.
