major problems running SL on Viewer 3, frustrated!

Hello all

I have downloaded the newest version of viewer 3 a couple of times now and it does not work for me. Here are my problems

- cannot teleport

- can't IM or make notecards

- i bought some items in the marketplace and they were not delivered

- crashes about every 20 min

- computer overheats

I tried downloading an older viewer 2, however could not access the grid. I tried phonex, same problems as above. I wonder if it is a hardwarre problem... I have a Macbook Pro (specs below).

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions! Could it be that my graphics card or comp just can't handle it anymore?? Thanks so much.

I can't be of help with MAC as I run a PC but your specs look like they are plenty to run SL.  

Have you tried Firestorm ?  

V3 runs like crap on my PC but I Firestorm seems to be working fine.  A little slower to rez than Phoenix but still WAY better than V3.

At least for you viewer 3 runs for a while! I have a new 17" MacBook Pro and viewer 3 crashes just as it finishes the log in procedure, every time. Viewer 2 was the same. Both work on my older iMac. So come on, Linden Labs, let's keep up with the technology, ok?

On my MacBook I usually run Firestorm, though it's still in Beta and has flaws. Imprudence and Phoenix also work. I think video card compatibility may be behind all this, though I am certainly no expert on this stuff. Meanwhile, I suggest you try Firestorm or Imprudence, and good luck with them!

Hmm! Its really too bad, since viewer 2 seemed to work fine for me for a while. I will try the firestorm viewer... it really is a shame cause I really enjoyed SL till now. Now its just a hassle... is there a way that you can still use the older 2, and login somehow??
