Hey everyone.  I just wanted to see how everyone else feels about clothing that is super photo realistic. I know I personally love something that has a realistic look but somehow for me those that well frankly look as if they have been cut ouf of a magazine really seem out of place to me.   Obviously I don't buy them myself just curious as to how other feel about them.

I love a nice blend of both. I think harsh photosourcing doesn't look right in SL and that people should embrace that fact instead of fighting it sometimes. SL just Isn't a photorealistic place. Likewise if something is a bit too handpainted it can be hard to find coordinates for it without looking like a human magazine collage. A blend of photorealism and artistic style to soften it seems to be the most flattering kind of texture for almost anything SL, I think.

I think Pookiepie makes a great point. I know that for those of us who use furry avatars, wearing something that looks TOO photorealistic can sometimes help shatter the illusion we're trying to present. It can server to point out whatever weaknesses might exist in an avatars ability to encourage a willing suspension of disbelief-er, beyond the one that already exists due to it being a virtual world, that is hehe. Still, I don't think truly photorealistic clothing is a bad thing, it's just having a variety of clothing to choose from is ALWAYS a good thing. I would hate to see everyone who makes clothing in SL move to ultre photorealism, for instance, but I really don't see that ever happening.
