Finally, someone who understands necroposting! ;-) ETA: Welcome to the forums, Cj. Put on your hard hat! I almost got out my bottle of ketchup but then decided not to. Yanno, you posted that pic a couple weeks ago and it looked so very familiar to me. I was pretty sure I'd passed that water tower on my way to see the Punkin' Chuckin' contest in Morton, IL. I looked up the tower and found that it is indeed in Illinois, but on the far side of Morton from me by hours. So now I'm worried my mind is going. ETA: You said you once lived within throwing distance of the Pumpkin Capital. Several towns lay claim to that title, were you referring to Morton? you can pour salt on that
Cupidity
My friends and I are opening a club and we want to make it as spam free as possible and promote conversation in local within reason. We do understand that people chat in smaller groups and all, but we want to make our club a place that people can go to and hang out with the expectation of genuine conversation free of spam. We don't even like gestures all that much, but used judiciously and with the right timing, it has it's place, but only if it takes up no more than one line of chat. Does anyone have advice on how we can got about enforcing a minimal gesture/spamming rule for the club diplomatically? We can make signs, but is there anything else out there that people have made that promotes or even rewards real conversation?
Dresden Ceriano
No tool which you could purchase will do the job of people who can actually hold a decent conversation and who've got the ability to actively engage others to do so as well. Keeping this in mind as you hire people would be much more advantageous, than would looking for some sort of scripted device to do the job for them, should they not be able to do it themselves. A sign might be helpful in curtailing gesture usage, but if you set the atmosphere correctly, anyone with sense should be able to realise that your's is just not that sort of place and refrain from misusing them. A competent staff would then be able to discreetly deal with those who have no such sense. ...Dres
