Estate or Parcel settings hindering with object scripts?

Recommended Posts

Hello hello,

We have an estate which only allows group access and all the parcels are group-owned with the settings below:

- Build --> None

- Object Entry --> Everyone

- Run Scripts --> Everyone

We currently have issues with objects like holodecks and rezzers. They only seem to work when the parcels are set where eveyone can build objects.

This is not desirable and I was wondering if there's anything we can tweak in the estate or parcel settings to allow these objects to work properly without resorting to converting these parcels into sandboxes.

I've seen holodecks in other public places working wonderfully on land that are not sandboxes. We really need to know how to go about achieving this.

Thanks all :)

Hello Sylvia,

We set the Build to neither Everyone nor Group in the About Land settings because we only want selected people in the Group to have the create objects ability.

The objects however... some are set to the group, some are not... oooh.. could this be the problem? Oh dear..

The easiest thing would be to set the build to Group.  Since the land is group access only and the parcels are group owned, I don't see why you wouldn't allow Build for group.  You can get around doing that by giving everyone in the group the ability to Alway allow 'Create Objects'    That will allow your group members to rezz objects even if Build is set to None.  But it doesn't fix your problem because your holodecks and rezzers also need permission to Build in order to create temp objects. I'm not sure that just setting them to the group is enough.  You may have to deed them.   Which is why setting Build to Group is probably an easier route.  I would set Object Entry to Group as well.  That's a hole in your security as it allows anyone to move an object into the land.

This may be related to a bug that is currently being investigated.

If the land does not allow public access and the owner of the rezzers/holodecks is not on the sim they fail to work. You will find the same is true if you have edit perms for another person & they are not present, you will not be able to edit/move their objects.

Could you please add your comments to this JIRA https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7217 so that it gives Maestro more information to work with.
