I started using Second Life a few years ago and was lampooned by other members of the family. Now they want to explore SL. The problem - one computer. Can more than one account or avatar use use the same SL application? Does each user need to download a copy of the SL app?

The "application" is a browser (called a viewer).  Any person with an account can use any viewer that is approved to log into SL.  That means they can use your viewer on your computer..........they do not need a separate viewer for their account.  All they need is an account (avatar).  You can even log more than one account in on the same viewer.

So the answer is:  Yes, one viewer will work for any number of accounts on a single computer.

Hi Bobo,

All of the viewers I've used allow multiple users. Their individual settings, caches and chat histories are stored in separate folders. You simply enter the name and password for each avi and off you go. Some of the viewers will remember a small list of avatar names, so you might have to type that in only once.
