Question

I am unable to find any hardware bans linked to your account.

What viewer are you currently using? If anything other than Viewer 3 from secondlife.com, please try logging in with Viewer 3 and copy/paste the error message you are getting when trying to log in.

Also, can you double check your MAC Address and Volume Serial Number?

1. From a PC, go to the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd, and press Enter. From a Mac, open the Terminal and follow the rest of the directions.

2. Type getmac at the screen that appears.

3. We're looking for the numbers with the dashes (-) in them.

4. If typing getmac gives you an error message, type ipconfig /all. We're looking for the Physical address information.

The MAC address should be numbers, something similar to XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX.

Likewise, the Volume Serial Number, which can be shown from the command prompt by typing dir and reading the number at the top.
1. Go back to the screen/Terminal.

2. Type dir, and the serial number should appear near the top.
This should be in the format of XXXX-XXXX.

Thanks,

Derrick Linden

it means there are no hardware bans linked to your account and the support have asked you to find the MAC address of your hardware which LL can use to ban your computer from accessing SL which is the ultimate ban no account will be able to log in on it if you supply your MAC address they can double check your MAC is not on their ban list throuh some error. in this case i think the MAC might be linked to the HDD as wi-fi/modems also deal with MAC's

"That" is a pretty straightforward request for information. You apparently received a notice that said "You are not allowed to access Second Life from this computer," so you asked SL Support why not. This answer from them says that it looks like a mistake, but they need to have you give them two numbers from your computer so that they can fix it. They give you good directions about exactly where to find those two numbers.  One number is your computer's MAC address.  The other one is its Volume Serial Number. All you have to do is follow their instructions, get the two numbers, and send them to SL Support. Also, they want you to try logging in with V3 and tell them exactly what error message you get.
