Oh, so you get drunk and start posting too?  YAY!!!

Seriously, I understand your preference for "adult" venues (I like them too)... but, at the same time, I think being able to post something coherent within the strict confines that are set is an achievement as well.  Sort of like the difference between Stravinsky and Mozart.

I had to ask this question here and yet in some ways it is the wrong place to ask this question.

On the one hand, there are people having sex in Second Life who post and read on this forum and the resource base here is just too good to not attempt to utilize for this question, and by this question, I mean, more specifically, "where is the best place to talk about sex, all kinds of sex and all the stuff related to sex, and sex that occurs in virtual worlds, Second Life and even real life?"  Sex, sex, sex.  Questions about prim genitalia and Zindra and poseballs and Second Life sex products and places.  Where does one start?  Where does one go?  How does it work in a virtual world?  Philosophical discussions about paraphilias.  Conversations about the politics of sex.  Comparisons of sex toys, positions and poseballs.  Humorous conversations about bad opening lines or sexual etiquette.  Pictures of positions, piercings, props, etc.   WTF?!?!?  reactions.  Have you evers.  And so on.

I think it is both sweet and true what people have said (here in this thread and in the new one I started over here), that the best person to talk to about sex is one's sexual partner, but that is not the kind of conversation I am trying to have or describe.  It's an answer to a different question.

I think it is funny, in a real interesting way, that some people have said that they don't want to share with strangers what they had to learn the hard way.  That alone could make a discussion thread.

I think it is true that conversations can be had very carefully and thoughtfully here on SLF and that the regular posters here have an understandable investment in encouraging those kinds of conversations, this is the other hand, but there are some people, like me, who do not want to have these kinds of conversations within the limits imposed not only by SLF, but by our own comfort, knowing that this is a PG forum without an 18+ age limit.  I want to post freely among adults.  (And in all honesty, the functionality of this forum drives me a little crazy.)

And yeah, I get being clever with the tools at one's disposal, but man, I also get going out there and finding and creating what you truly want.

That said, yeah, I'll definitely put SLF near the top of my list of places I recommend if and when I'm asked this question, but with qualifiers about the demographics, teens, PG moderation, pic and language restrictions and functionality.

If you ever get or take a chance to see the kinds of threads I participated in on RLetc.com or gotVirtual.net or my own sexually themed blog, (http://whatleesaid.blogspot.com/), then I think you might have more of an idea of what I'm talking about and looking for.  I want to someone to be able to say, "what the heck is vore?" and be able to get into a detailed conversation about it.  I want someone else to be able to say, "hey, skin genitalia or prim genitalia?"  I want someone else to be able to post pics of erotica or piercings or "here's a pic of what we ended up looking like when we used the cyclone button on the sexgen bed" and "holy fudge!"  And I want someone to be able to mention an interest in Gor or yiffing without being virtually tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.

There may not be enough of a market for what I'm looking for to justify the kind of site I'm trying to describe.

And yeah, I want to have a couple of drinks while I'm posting and get a little frisky and free with it all.  ;)

I'm a greedy whoover.

Actually, what you describe is what I had hoped could happen on the Adult forum we first advocated.  There is a considerable economy in SL creating, marketing, selling, and supporting adult 'goods'.  It does not seem logical to create a forum where only purveyors of adult-related items can share information.  What about the consumer?!

I hear ya on the Adult subforum.  Is that idea dead in the water or does it still have some life in it?  You mentioned the morphing and shutting out the consumer.  Was that the end of it?

That was the end of it at the time.  LL had no way of being able to automatically add verified adults to the Adult forum.  It required individuals who fell under at least one of the two categories I referenced earlier to ask Blondin to be added and he did so manually.  Now that he is gone I do not know who manages that forum.

Your wots are always welcomed. yay-smiley.gif

If I remember correctly, the last time an adult sub-forum was discussed, it was in conjunction with the creation of a GLBT forum.  It was decided that there would be no adult forum but there would be a GLBT forum, except only for adults.  It was quickly pointed out that, not only was there no reason a GLBT sub-forum should have to be adult, but that having an adult forum for the GLBT community and not having one for everyone else just didn't seem right.

So what we got instead was the "Identity and Relationships" forum that was open to all (which I later forced suggested Amanda change to "Lifestyles and Relationships", which is what have now).  The adult forum idea was never brought up again, as far as I know.  Perhaps, since some of the names have changed now, it might be time to, once again, bring it up.  I mean, why not?... the worst they could do is say no again.

ETA: I forgot to mention the best part... no one ever even asked for the creation of a GLBT sub-forum.  Sometime, during the discussion about creating an adult sub-forum, some misguided person suggested GLBT issues as a reason for creating one.  Amanda took that as if we needed a GLBT forum and ran with it.  So we ended up getting what we didn't ask for and not getting what we did... go figure.

Yes, I recall that discussion.  Fun meeting.  Also raised was the fact that there are teens on the grid who would fit that community...so they would not be allowed to participate in that forum.

Plus, the issue of having to add people manually.  I do not know if that bit has changed over the past several months.  If there is an easier way to add people perhaps LL would be open to a re-request.  (I will not hold my breath)

I can't really point you to any one place that will give you all of the information you want. I CAN offer some of that information from personal experience, so feel free to ask me here, send me a PM, or IM me inworld.

As with anything in SL, it really depends on what you're looking for. There's everything from straight (or not...) rp sex to "hop on a poseball and moan" sex; and everything in between. For the former, you don't even need genital attachments if you don't want them. For the latter, male genitals are practically required, but are often freebies, while female genitals are optional as long as you have a skin that's marginally detailed.

There's a LOT to learn. I had a "mentor" or sorts when I first started this sort of thing, and that helped a lot. (He just pointed me where to go, what was good, what wasn't, etc. Then I had a few females help me out as well, so I found what was right for me.) Again, feel free to message me inworld and I'll help you out as much as I can. I'm Ariel Vuissent there, just like I am here
^_^

As a newbie (less than a month), I thot I'd add a comment on this topic. I'll try not to be too explicit since this is a GP forum. While it's true that you don't NEED girly bits for sl sex, I find that I like the feeling of being "all there" they provide, like the added realism of the visual experience, and that my partner likes to look at them. I don't have much $L but this is one item I decided to spend $L for & I feel it was well worthwhile. Unlike many other attachments, the girly parts I purchased fit well & I've not had to edit them. The only problem is that if you have a tattoo on your butt, are wearing a garter belt & stockings, etc., you may have too many 'things' attached for them all to work together. You may have to attach your parts after you're undressed.

Another thing I actually paid $L for was the Mama Allpa female cycle HUD. Again, I thot it would add realism to the sl experience. Unfortunately, this has probably been a waste of $L. I have yet to find a partner who has shown any interest in the male version. Guess I should have asked about this before spending $L for it.

As for pose balls, they are certainly of different quality. With some the partners don't synch well at all, with others it takes a minute or two to synch, and others work well right from the start. Maybe this is a lag issue, I'm not sure. As for boy parts, I agree that most are crazy big. It's kinda disconcerting to see the thing coming out the small of my back, or back of my head! People who make these need to get real.

Two points:

1.  You don't actually need a degree in English Lit, but a little bit of knowledge in that area certainly wouldn't hurt.

2.  Even with a spellcheck, you could still leave a few words misspelled if you really think that's what you need to get across your degree of enthusiasm.

...Dres *is totally shocked and surprised he spelled enthusiasm correctly the first try*

I always enjoy this every year: "Literary Review's Bad Sex In Fiction Rewards," http://www.literaryreview.co.uk/badsex.html

Two of my favorite winners:

"If Dawn Madden's breasts were a pair of Danishes, Debby Crombie's got two Space Hoppers. Each armed with a gribbly nipple. Tom Yew kissed them in turn and his saliva glistened in the April sun. I know watching was wrong but I couldn't not. Tom Yew slipped off her red panties and stroked the cressy hair there.

'If you want me to stop, Madam Crombie, you have to say now.'

'Oooh, Master Yew,' she croodled, 'don't you dare.'

Tom Yew got on her and sort of jiggled there and she gasped like he was giving her a Chinese burn and wrapped her legs round him, froggily. Now he moved up and down, Man-from-Atlantisly. His silver chain jiggled on his neck.

Now her grubby soles met like they were praying.

Now his skin was glazed in roast pork sweat.

Now she made a noise like a tortured Moomintroll.

Now Tom Yew's body jerkjerked judderily jackknifed and a noise like a ripping cable tore out of him. Once more, like he'd been booted in the balls.

Her fingernails'd sunk salmony welts into his arse.

Debby Crombie's mouth made a perfect O."

"A flock of crows, six or eight, raucously rasping at one another, thrashed into the top of an oak on the edge of the square of sky. The heavenly invasion made his heart race; he looked down at his **bleep**, silently begging it not to be distracted; his mind fought skidding into crows and woods, babies and Phyllis, and his **bleep** stared back at him with its one eye clouded by a single drop of pure seminal yearning. He felt suspended at the top of an arc. Faye leaned back on the blanket, arranging her legs in an M of receptivity, and he knelt between them like the most abject and craven supplicant who ever exposed his bare ass to the eagle eyes of a bunch of crows."

Well, is that kind of writing a serious illness? Crazy to throw * between your words and then talk about how someone should write to have good sex in SL.

Not to forget: There are more languages in this world than English.

The asterisks (*) represent self-censorship -  words that would have been "bleeped" out by the SLF mods had Rudi not censored himself.  Try thinking of a lot of F words in the place of the asterisks and read it with the mischievous winking humor with which it was posted.  ;)
