How does my SL business get listed in the search box?

There must be 50,000 pages of information about setting up a business in SL....not one of them has an easy, simple explanation for how my business can show up in search results....I need a simple answer....

That's always a hot topic of discussion in the Commerce >> Merchant forums.  Just within the past day or two, for example, you can find

You may want to search that forum's archives, or just jump in with a new question and see how people respond.

Basically, the answer is that you will show up in search results, but nobody shows up as high as they would like.  There's a lot of gaming to figure out what will get you the highest rating, but LL isn't telling people exactly how the algorithm works, and they keep changing it.

You do have some control over Classified Ads (and their Marketplace equivalent, Enhancements), since you get a higher ranking if you pay more.  Personally, I have always considered those options to be money down a rat hole, but you can try them if you have spare cash to play with.  The other thing you can do, if you have an in-world store, is to pay the L$30/week to have your parcel listed in search.  You can do that from About Land >> Options.
