Eloise Baily
My favourite image ever. The tiny blue dot in the outer rings at about 10 o'clock is the earth. It was taken from Cassini, in orbit around Saturn. Just gorgeous.
Storm Clarence
Eloise that is a great 'shot'.
Eloise Baily
Thanks Storm. It is an actual photo. Hard to believe isn't it?
Peewee Musytari
Wow Eloise, thats awesome. I got my win7 magnifyer onto it (/me loves silly toys hehe) so I could checkout the Earth & I found another planet there too. Over to the left from the Earth past the edge of the last ring, any idea which one that is? My astronomy sucks lol
Venus Petrov
If it is to the left, I assume that is closer to the sun and would be Venus. If I am wrong, and to the left is farther, it would be Mars.
Eloise Baily
Well PeeWee I think that's a star, though I couldn't tell you which one. I've only ever seen them from the Earth. The NASA and ESA guys only quote Earth, but I see where you're coming from. It'd be Mars btw. Saturn is eclipsing the Sun so Mercury and Venus would appear closer. Peewee Musytari
@ Eloise & Venus, Mars it is then, thankyou both
