Alphas and graphical sharding...

Recommended Posts

It seems I am the only one who sees this happening, as none of my other friends can see it. When I wear an alpha texture (for example, shoes that make my feet invisible) I can see bits and pieces of my feet in little shards that can change depending on how I move my camera. This isn't the same as wearing an invisble prim and having parts of my feet poke through, this is alpha only and it typically makes my feet look like an unrezzed sculpty, all tangled and sharded up. I have a very good computer, it's brand new and has one of the latest graphics cards and windows 7, and I am using Phoenix viewer. I usually have my graphics on med or high. Does anyone know why alphas seem to shard for me?

Alpha processing has always been somewhat problematic, but I have snapshots of alphas taken before 08/08/11 which do not show alpha processing problems visible now under the same conditions as before.

But we all know that "nothing happened" on 08/08/11... am I right?
