how do i set my linden home as my starting place?

Stand in your home and open the World menu at the top of the screen.  Select Set Home Here.  After that, any time you want to go home, all you have to do is type CTRL + Shift + H.  Once you have done the Set Home Here thing, you can also designate that spot as your default login location in Preferences >> General .
