As a seller of building components with full perms, I would like to see better protection of my IP rights. A lot of people still think that despite an user license or eula comes with a creation, they can ignore this and use the permissions that SL states.

To make more clear that this is not the case, and the buyer is hold to an users agreement, I would like to see a new feature for this kind of items on the marketplace. It can be full perms meshes, but it applies also for full perms sculpties, textures, scripts. All items that help the builder build and must be full perms for this reason.

This new feature will contain an 'I agree' button. The object can only be sold to the buyer, after he submits that he has read the terms of use and agrees on them.
It will both make more clear for the buyer what his rights are; what can and cannot be done with the object, and it will give more protection to the IP right holder because there is an agreement about the use.

If you like this idea, please vote or watch the jira: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4085

I don t care about the rights inside SL .

What is the problem to see everybody inside SL wearing my items ? If people have fun with my items , i will be proud of this .

But I care more about rights outside SL : i don t want my 3d model that i ve done to have fun inside SL be sold to turbosquid or other merchant sites who sell the model 3d higher price than inside SL.

We are talking about real money , not virtual money

Register a trademark. Brand your products accordingly, claim a Copyright. Only transfer boxes including a license for the end user and add a disclaimer to any kind of sales vendor (SLmarketplace included). Deposit the original item somewhere, including the creation date (if possible). Check marketplace, off-world sites and in-world locations on a regular schedule, because Linden Lab, Turbosquid or whatever else sales site will not detect any infringements for you and only will act once you file a valid DMCA - as long as the site is located in a country which respects international copyright treaties.

Not a bad idea! Though, it still relies on the honor system. I actually think we need a new permissions button. Next next owner perms. This setting would allow full perms kit creators to control their products.

For instance: full perms creator sells a skirt kit full perms (but with next next owner perms set safely)

Then in-world creator purchase the skirt kit. The skirt remains full perms for this creator.

However, if the skirt is sold or transferred, it takes on Next Next owner perms.

This removes the honor system from full perms kits and items. This is not an original idea. I read it somewhere around tge metaverse years ago. But I do really think the added complexity would be well worth it.

Miranda... I don't get you... "virtual money"? I don't know if you sell your items inside SL or just give them away for free, but I can assure you that my SL store makes me earn real money that pays for real bills, so I'm more than concerned about IP rights in and outside SL.

It's not just "fun" for a lot of us creators.
