Why is my Avatar moving forward automatically every time I jump?

My avitar moves forward automatically every time I jump...its becoming annoying now. How do I stop this from happening?

And no I am not pressing any other keys besides the jump key.

In over four years in SL, I think I have jumped on purpose maybe 10 times, so I can't tell you much from personal experience.  (Jumping by mistake doesn't count, because I'm too surprised to notice where I jumped from or to. )  I can tell you, however, that if you are on tilted ground or if you are already moving, your avatar will land in a different spot after you jump.  Try jumping on a hillside in RL... same thing.
