uploading targa sculpt maps

I have a couple of skirt templates that i downloaded and are targa sculpt maps. When i open them up in photoshop they're gray-scale! What do i even do with these and how do i upload them onto second life to make a prim skirt?

When you say you downloaded them, from where. If they are grey scale, they sound like the shading maps for the flexis and not the sculpt maps. If that is the case then they are used in the Texture tab. Sculpt maps appear as multi-coloured images. But either case you upload them like any other texture you want to upload to SL.

Try them in Irfanview and Lunapic.
