Since, at least according to the Wikipedia article to which you link, John Edward Robinson  "currently remains on death row at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in Kansas,"  I somehow doubt there's much chance of running into him in SL, don't you?

Speaking to people in SL is not going to get you killed, even if you did speak to a serial killer, just don`t give your RL info out to everyone you speak to or rush off to meet someone that you have known for 5 mins.

Be cautious & sensible not scared.
