You  might be able to turn off the noise on the shoe itself.  If they are a high-quality shoe, sound can usually be deactivated by clicking on the shoe which will bring a menu up.  The menu could include sounds, AO movement and even texture options.  You would select sound and then off, if your shoes provide for this
