Curious Zsun Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I posted this over in the Technical section not knowing for sure where to post it, so sorry for the double. The answers I got were not exactly what I was looking for, I don't care to change viewer and I know how to get to the profile. I'd like to fix the one I have. In two recent version of SL viewer (currently using In version 2.8.1) I've been unable to view anyone profile. I've cleared cache made sure cookies and javascript were enabled. Still all I see when viewing any profile is mostly a white page with a few links and zero detail about the person. What else do I need to check, clear or enable. TIA.
Keli Kyrie Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Click on the "About" tab you will see stuff again.
Curious Zsun Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Thank you for the suggestion but I don't even see that button. All I get is this for my own profile and not much more for anyone else.
Jennifer Boyle Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Can you see them using a Web boowser to access https:\\mysecondlife.com\firstname.lastname?
Tristizia Demonista Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Hmm, what browser do you use, the internal or an external one ? Try to switch this in prefs and see if there is a change. Also, can you view your profile on the web if you go to : https://my.secondlife.com/curious.zsun ?
Keli Kyrie Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Try going to the side bar in viewer 2.8.1 and clicking on your profile there. it is the tab with the little face on it.
Tristizia Demonista Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 What i actually meant with switching was, in prefs -> setup, you have the option of using the internal or the browser of your choice. Check the external (your own) browser. The profiles are still dispayed inside your viewer, so don't worry Just would be interresting IF there is a difference.
Void Singer Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I believe the problem is one of settings... go to preferences (ctrl+p) and make sure you have enabled everything for the internal browser (cookies, javascript, and plugins)

I tried both settings with the same outcome. Again thank you for the help and suggestions.

Maybe I'm just supposed to be a cursed profile perv.
Void Singer Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 do you by chance have any ad blocking software installed? some of them are overzealous and use your localhosts file to blockaccess to various resources... which migh include some common ones like google file and script repositories that many websites make use of

Thank you yet again. Maybe Mac 10.7 is just broken, but with LL putting out two updates since it's release I thought it would be safe.
Six Igaly Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 It is most likely this: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Apple-OS-X-Lion-Compatibility/td-p/990229 Today someone said profiles are broken since updrading to Lion....

Orlando Messmer Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I installed Phoenix Viewer 1.5.2.1185 on my Mac running OS 10.5.8 and it works fine. Like an earlier release of the Second Life Viewer.
Ti Mosienko Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I have this same problem at home on Mac OSX 10.6.8 woth 1 MB RAM. At school/work on similar machines it works great with faster connections and lots more ram. I think it has something to do with the GUI needing a lot of RAM.
Ti Mosienko Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Second Life profiles are now web-based; see http://my.secondlife.com - this is the solution for me!! Everything works!!!!!
