We formed a group and now find out that we are charging members $1 a week.  We don't know how we did that and want to turn it off. Can anyone tell us how to do that?

Please IM Bryan Jonstone if you do.

that's called group liabilities and is enabled by default when a new group is created. easy to disable.

look under "members & roles" tab and then "roles". highlight the "everyone" role and in the "allowed abilities" window to the right scroll down to accounting and under there the "pay group liabilities and receive group dividends" is listed. uncheck that and that would be all.

Even if you stop the group charging to the members, you still need to find out why a charge is being raised. A group doesn't cost anything to manintain unless it has a liability of some sort. Un-checking the group liability tab will result in the owner(s) continuing to pay whatever is causing that charge. Do you by any chance have land belonging to the group which has the include in search tab checked? This would raise a group charge.
