Hi all, I have been beating my head against a wall trying to get a simple test avatar rigged and uploaded. I have followed several tutorials to the letter to no avail. The mesh appears correct in the preview with the "show skin weights" and looks good with the "show joint positions" options checked. But when I upload it and attach it acts like a normal prim and not a rigged mesh.

If anyone has any idea what I could be doing wrong or if something in SL is just currently borked, it would really help.

thanks

My first guess would be that you used rigid binding. Try using smooth binding, classic linear, you can do it interactive or not and see how that works. Hope this helps :D

Edited: Woops should have thought of what Runitai said first, this would only happen if you had skin weights checked on the modifiers tab, and then uploaded with the wrong binding method.

The import is misleading you --

You need to go to the "modifiers" tab and check "skin weights" and "joint positions"

The gears drop down just contains what's rendered in the preview, not what's imported.

Rigging works in blender definetly, However the matter of export is a different matter: You have to either export using the old collada script files (or updated ones) or use an older version of blender for export.
