Why wont my avatar load all the way?

When something like that happens, it's a communication failure between your computer and SL's servers.  When you change your appearance (including changing system clothes), the change occurs on your own computer and is then uploaded to SL so we can all see it.  If information is lost along the way, we see garbage -- sometimes just a blurry texture, sometimes an avatar turns into a white cloud .....

(1) For a quick fix that usually works in simple cases.... type CTRL + Alt + R (rebake).

(2) For harder cases, or to deal with the underlying problem

    (a) If you're on wireless, get off it.  Wireless is not near as stable as a cable connection.  It gives lots of people trouble in SL.

   (b)  Reboot your router and modem by unplugging them each for a couple of minutes.
