Second Life crashes every single time I try to teleport.

If your firewall is blocking outbound TCP port 12043, then teleporting, viewing the World Map, crossing regions, and related activities won't work. See this article for more details.

Also taking off scripted items helps. Mainly shoes. That used to crash me.

You didn't mention your computer specs. Not all computer will run second life -- or run it well. That has always been the case. So if you have a fairly old (or low end) computer you may not be able to use SL. You can try lowing your graphics settings, running the viewer in a smaller window  and turning off all other programs when you play. That may help. I can still get on with a VERY old notebook, but just barely. Be sure and see the system specs to make sure you are close to the official idea of what will work. Going back to the 1.23 viewer may be the key.
