how do i get lindens back from someone who stole after i report them?

When you file an AR, you will get an acknowledgement from LL but you will never know the outcome.  LL will do their investigation and decide what sanction is appropriate, but that's a private matter between them and the person. 

Don't expect LL to give you any money.  That's a private matter between you and the other person, so LL doesn't owe you anything.  (Sort of like RL.  If the police arrest some bandit who took your money, the police aren't responsible for paying you back.)  Sorry.
