I login in and wait for SL to load, it gets to Initializing VFS and nothing happens

Clear your cache.

Depending on which version of viewer 2 you're using, you'll find Clear cache under the Advanced tab of your Preferences in the latest viewers or you'll see a Reset button under the Setup tab. Click whichever you have then close the viewer and open it again and try to log in.
