How to ensure outfits, prefs etc is kept with a viewer roll-back (V2.8 to V2.7.1)?

I am rolling back from V2.8 (which doesn't run on my PC) to V2.7.1. Are there any steps or precautions I should take to ensure that none of my preferences or outfits (very important) are not lost?

Take a look at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User_settings to see where LL stores all your good stuff.  If you want a file like your preferences preserved when you delete everything else, just move it to another folder and then copy it back when you have reinstalled your viewer.  Outfits should be in your inventory, which is stored on SL's servers.
