Melita Magic
Deepest condolences to Second Life residents who reside in Norway. There really are not words to express the shock waves that have even reached us across the sea. Sending condolences and compassion back to you.Is there anything we can say or do to help?Does anyone have any ideas for anything that can be done here or in Second Life to express our consolation and support? Reebes Starfall
http://www.rodekors.no/start-din-egen-innsamling-i-dag/ This page will allow you to start donating to the Norwegian Red Cross. I do not have enough knowledge myself to set up fund raiser points within SL, but perhaps someone whos experienced on that can. Just click the green button and enter in details (google toolbar can translate the fields) They already have online donations through that, which you can keep track of yourself. If someone could update me on this if they decide to go ahead with it, please message me in-world.

GothGirl Demonia
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43857267/ns/world_news-europe/t/norway-massacre-suspect-calls-deeds-necessary-lawyer-says/?GT1=43001 Should I say that there are a lot of things that can mentally trigger a person to do something like this, sure our common sense tells us right now while we are sane that we shouldn't do something like this, but for example the amount of Drama/Trolling created in Second Life especially with the things some people I have seen doing lately is enough to make a person just want to Kill sometimes I am only saying this because like he played Modern Warfare & World OF Warcraft, and I have seen the effects that these games have had on people mentally before including but not limited to Suicidal reactions after playing for many years, withdraws from playing the game, and such. I don't know for sure but I can say that anyone at any time could snap like this, especially when they already have something wrong with them, and they don't get any mental help, or don't know themselves until something just makes them snap really fast, and by then it is too late. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSRSoncoV4k Here is an example of what I talk about based on a movie also known as raging. It is sad, but I really can't wait to hear the reason to why he did this crime.

Melita Magic
It's been all over our news and Yahoo main page. Sorry I should've posted a link in case. What a horrible tragedy. I just feel so bad for everyone involved, their families, loved ones, the survivors, they will have a lifetime to have to cope with this. And even in other places, because, the world begins to wonder, where is safe? His own lawyer says he is insane and the lawyer might quit. The struggle over what to do seems etched in the lawyer's face. I'm sure if he feels the man should be jailed he can't ethically defend him and yet, if the man is insane, does he need help? I just feel very sad for the people of Norway especially. Scylla btw I am sorry I did not see your topic. And I did look first. But I think the more attention this gets maybe more people will do something to help. Thanks to everyone who posted links as to how to help. Please, keep posting more ways, since different people will be comfortable with different charities or ways to help. It just feels like, I want to do something, you know? It breaks my heart. Melita Magic
By the way: I've tried to be neutral about different causes on my public lands, since there are people from all over the world in Second Life. But, I did put out the Japan bears, and I think what I could do this time, at the least, is put a sign that has information on how people can help. That's one idea anyone could easily do. I don't know if I want to be responsible for mass amounts of money coming into Second Life (the organizers for one such effort ended up having IRS trouble so much money came in, and then there are always various accusations about misuse), but to direct people to places outside Second Life or give them information seems simple, and safe, enough for all. Of course, always double-check any such links anywhere because unfortunately some people will indeed set up dummy charity websites to cheat people of money. Lia Abbot
Well said Melita. My heart goes out to those people. I want to yell and shout about that man, but this is not the time. This is the time for quiet thought about those who have been taken from their loved ones so pointlessly. A friend pointed out that the man or woman who might have found a cure for cancer, or written a brilliant play or book, or composed some wonderful music may be among those wasted lives. But even if they became the person who cleared the trash, they were important and mattered a lot. /me wi[pes away a tear.
