I'm having a problem getting the Mesh viewer to notice changes to my model. If I export my model from Blender to Collada, then use Upload -> Model, then the viewer shows (and will apprently upload) a previous version. I tried these things:

  • delete the .dae and .slm files and try again
  • export to a .dae with a new name and try again
  • clear viewer cache and try again
  • rename obejcts and mesh objects
  • go to bed and import same file next day <- THIS WORKS!

(And of course the viewer crashes after each try.)

So,  is there some kind of cache that is not noticing my changes? Can I clear it? Work around it?

Is this known? I could not find the JIRA but will add to it if someone points.

Edit: It is a skin-weighted avatar mesh on Aditi. The biggest problem I have is fixing weights. I fix them, but it does not notice. But then I got suspicious and changed the mesh and it did not notice either!

Hm, I have had the same problem twice a while ago, but I cannot remember what exactly caused it. However, saving out your mesh in a brand new file *should* work.

Have you tried re-opening the file that doesn't show up correct in SL, in Blender? If Blender shows the very same mesh as Second Life, it probably has something to do with the file, or Blender, itself. But my guess would be it has something to do with SL.

The only thing I can think about is re-installing Second Life, completly. This includes, assuming you use windows, the hidden files C:\Users\yourname\AppData then search for Local and Roaming and inside those folders search for SL folders (the default folder name you used when you installed Second Life.) Please note that these folders are shared by all the viewers you currently have installed on your PC. For example, I have snowglobe, the Beta viewer and the SL 2 viewer and they all share these folders to update chat logs, etc.

I cannot guarantee this will fix the problem, but that's what I did.
