This is a bug with the latest viewer. I noticed it myself so uninstalled it. For me, it was fixed in the new beta viewer 2.8 available also from the main download page but it it has some bugs too, which are mentioned at the bottom of this page http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Beta_Viewer/2.8.0

You can also go back to 2.7.2 available here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/2.7.2 or use Phoenix Firestorm, which is viewer 2 coded. I'm sure it has bugs too.

Best thing to do is probably to follow Nyll's advice (/me waves to Nyll ). Turning off Basic shaders might help on some of the weird display issues in the viewer (animated textures not animating for one...), but it's far from ideal, and not really a solution as far as I'm concerned. Also, try turning off http textures in the develop menu (enable the menu in me->Preferences->Advanced(?))

Since Phoenix is working I would just stick to that viewer until LL gets the bugs worked out of theirs

Hi Luc Yes, I don't consider disabling basic shaders as a viable workaround either. SL looks awful with basic shaders off.
