I just got a new imac with a ATI Radeon 6970M 2GB g card. Is that why I keep crashing?

Mine has an ATI Radeon 7770M 2GB and SL Viewer 2 latest versions are running rather slower than when using Phoenix. Yet, using a 6970 should not cause you to crash so often. I would suggest you check our internet connection first. If you use wireless, use a regular cable instead.

But it is certain that new V2 requires a lot from your graphic card so you might want to give a try to use earlier versions or TPVs:

The System Requirements page is hopelessly out of date. However, the 6970M is in the application's gpu_table.txt file and should default to high graphics mode.

Looking at this thread and Loki Eliot's stunning videos, performance of the iMac with the 6970M is really excellent.
