I was told I could get a founder's membership retroactively. Is this true? I was a beta tester and have been in SL regularly since.

There was a discussion about this a few years ago on the old forums (the real forums) in the Resident Answers section.  I searched the archives and did a Google search and came up empty handed.  I seem to remember that there was, at one time, a "Founders" account (I think status is probably more correct).  It was offered to the original residents (so I believe Beta testers would be considered original users) but ended sometime in 2004.............that's from a vague memory on a subject I wasn't really interested in so I may be incorrect.  I do know the program is not available any longer.  There was also discussion in the discussion about purchasing an older account from one of the "Founders" and gaining that status..........and the conclusion I came away with was that is was possible to purchase an account from someone at one time, but it's either impossible now or extremely expensive with lots of "legal" issues about content, property rights and a mess of other things.

 

The short of it is...........I don't think it's possible to do if you missed the original offer back in about 2003 or 2004.

Hi, somebody was blowing smoke or took a very long nap. The offer was originally for a fixed number of memberships, then that cap was lifted, but that extension ended with the 1.2 release.
