can someone tell me what the profile ratings are about?

We used to have ratings on our SL profiles but they stopped years ago, so I guess you don`t mean them. Do you mean forum ranks? If so they are explained in the Community Help on http://community.secondlife.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/ranksroles#ranksroles

If you meant something else, you can use Options > Edit to add more info to your post.

well in the beta search lol my profile is Rated G and my wife''s A very odd

Ahhh maturity ratings!! Your wife probably has something in the text on her profile that has triggered the adult content detector. I just looked and my guess would be the word "Escort", so if she takes that out it should change to G. You do know that profiles are not supposed to have any pics on them that are not G rated yeah?
