Sofia Varela Posted Saturday at 03:55 AM Posted Saturday at 03:55 AM Hello everyone. yesterday I could feel myself getting overwhelmed by Black Friday. I had an idea to make some kind of guiding tool to help me stay within my budget and manage my shopping a bit better I think I have made something that can give me an overview of my options while stopping me from going broke :-)) Its a bit of an experiment but I'm happy to play with it now - will put to use in any case. I think it might be helpful to others. So here is a link to it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TjOJmYmLDKFTw3xCemdRxe5cfU2xTRyhIndyFcrgv2w/edit?usp=sharing you can copy it and make it your own. And I've made a video guide in case it helps. https://youtu.be/Awjm2Ovn58o Happy Shopping! (wasn't sure where to post this after looking around, I decided on here) 7 3

rasterscan Posted Saturday at 08:59 AM Posted Saturday at 08:59 AM Possibly helpful for shopping overwhelm Wow. Excellent. But it scared me and I ran away. Now, about my Inventory Received Items folder .... 5

Prokofy Neva Posted Saturday at 03:44 PM Posted Saturday at 03:44 PM Wow, that's amazing! Now come and organize my inventory! LOL This is how I personally had to solve the Black Friday issue with one tiny exception (half price sale on characters at Disturbed): ignore it entirely and resist even glancing at Seraphim or any feeds. This is because I'm sick in RL and have no money in SL to keep stocking my inventory, which is already at 258,000. Instead, when I have an hour free, I spend time sorting/deleting. 5
Persephone Emerald Posted Saturday at 05:52 PM Posted Saturday at 05:52 PM I have enough clothes, hair, houses, furniture, vehicles, and pets, so I decided on this Black Friday week to just indulge my obsession with collecting fantasy skins. Lumae is one favorite, so I bought 2 head skins with matching body skins from there. I bought 2 body skins and matching sale head skins from Velour. Then I think I bought 5 fantasy and 4 fair body skins from Nuve for the fantastic price of $L 120 each and 25% store credit for group members. My free group gift heads from them already have all the skin tones. All my other Black Friday week shopping will be for free stuff, free store credit and free gift cards. All the fun of shopping without the pain of spending my lindens. 5

Appreciate what you are saying, Alwin. Totally agree. And most of the time I'm pretty haphazard about my spending. I just wanted a way to think a little bit more about what I want to get. I had a fun moment with a friend the day before when we were being a bit more careful about the order of visiting stores cos we wanted to make sure to get to our favourites. And so I was going to do a little list anyway. I'm a bit of a nerd and totally admit this is an over-the-top approach. But its also a form of fun for me (ok, I said it! Will never live this down!!!). And honestly, I am not sure how this will work anyway. In the spirit of @Ingrid Ingersoll's comment, I might not stick to any budget and do what I want anyway. Just sometimes I try different ways to tame my inventory and spending and this was one of those moments :)) 1

I think its a good thing to sit back and remember to keep things in perspective. So I do hear you. What helps me is that I am mostly laughing at myself when I do this. I got overwhelm but it wasn't panic inducing, it was a mild sense of overexcitement and just a touch of FOMO. But, yes, perspective always good. Also, this is a fun thing for me to do. I love building structures and things that help me do what I was going to do anyway, but a bit easier. I think it will help me going forward after Black Friday. I am actually using a version of it to organise Christmas present buying for my family in RL. It really is easy to use. And it didn't take me so long to do. It actually took me longer to record the video etc :-)) But thank you anyway, for your reminder about perspective. Its always important. 1

So welcome @Lyric Demina. Thank you for your lovely words. 🧡 I really wasn't sure whether to post it. Don't want to add to people's overwhelm. But I felt excited to use it. So I decided to risk becoming known as a complete nutcase and post it anyway, just in case it could inspire some more nerd-dom 😄 . And organised shopping :-)) we won't mention the b-word (*whispers* budget!). Have a lovely day in any case 🙂 1 1

I actually wish I could dive into friend's inventories and help them organise it as I genuinely love organising mine. (Finally confessing this!) (which, just to reassure you is NOT fully organised :-)). I just like to do it. And yes, I made myself go and do some sorting before I could even see about what kind of jeans I actually needed (referring to the video here). THat does not mean I didn't also impulse buy. I think its great you are able to focus on other things. There is so much good stuff in inventories...I think we could have a fun event to share the wackiest things we find at the bottom of them. :-)) Maybe its my own OCD but I really like the idea of understand what i already have and making the most of that. So yay to sorting yours! 2

It is definitely on my list to look for fantasy skins, so much appreciated. And great to hear about your strategy! 1
