applying BOM to my maitreya body

I recently updated to the 5.3 maitreya version. I bought an attachment that only works with a BOM body and im struggling to get BOM layers to work (im buying demos to see if they work). Ive clicked on the BOM button under skin/base, it makes my body disappear but my head remains. I dont think im using any body alphas? I can find any alphas under previous versions of my maitreya body, and im not sure if my catwa catya head has a full body one, but it does have head and eyes alpha that im using.

Also once BOM was activated I went to the maitreya 5.3 options and they had layering (clothing, under etc) and I assumed those were the BOM options? However they didnt work.

What do I do from here?

Check.your worn tab for any alphas.

Reset the alpha section of your Maitreya HUD.

Check your current outfit folder. Take a pic of that folder and post, or ask for help in the Maitreya Lara Friends Group.

Use "Ctrl o" and that will bring up your appearance window.. then go to your  wearing tab.. Any alphas will be at the very top  or close to the top of that window.

What you can do is see if removing your head alpha fixes the body problem..

okso it seems that I did have a alpha on from maitreya 5.3, took it off and now it looks like this. its wearing a demo skin i found as I waas testing out BOM. why is the top hlf whitened out?

When i removed the head alpha it distorted my face completely. Do I need to set my catwa head to BOM mode?

Scratch all that below.. I see you have it fixed.. you can put your head alpha back on.. hehehe

Did it fix the body problem.. Because you can use any head alpha, but you just want it only to alpha the head area..

I don't think Catya can go Bom also..

We can find you a head alpha if you don't have one.. But there should be one in the Catwa folder for just the head, if your body problem has went away .

See if you have some sort of T-shirt on in your wearing tab..  Now that you have Bom turned on, any of the system layer clothing can sit on your mesh body..

Those system layers clothing from the system avatar are usable on your mesh body now..

 

Also,just to add.. You don't want to use the skins from the hud.. if you ever do, they will kick you out of Bom mode .. you would just have to click the bom button again to fix that..

not wearing any tshirts but I am trying on demo skins, maybe this is a feature of demo skins in general?

I'm wondering if you are still wearing the old maitrey hands..

Didn't you have to wear hands and feet with the older maitreya? I can't remember..

That or make sure you don't have on two bodies. the older body and the newer body.

 

Also if you are wearing the layers that come in any of the maitreya folders, like the Tattoo or Clothing layer and so on.. you can take those off as well..

well what confuses me is that alphas hide the older bodies underneath. removing the alpha now shows the hands and feet of an older model, am I supposed to reapply another body alpha to hide this? It doesnt show im wearing hands or feet in my worn items 

and yes the old maitreya I had to wear hands and feet

also I just discovered the BOM options under maitreya 5.3 (add on parts) I can see body parts changing but as half of my avatar is whitened out cant really make out the differences.

Take off the BoM Add-On Parts and also the 2 New Shirts.

The Add-On parts simply smooth out the areas.  With breasts, it puffs out the cleavage area so the clothing doesn't look as painted on which is basically what BoM is.  This is activating the pelvis section while wearing BoM undies...

If you're not wearing any BoM clothing, the add-on is not needed.

that got rid of the white upper half thank you. Seems like two bodies are clashing though, is there an original BOM body clasking with the esode BOM skin demo I got on? here are the pictures

No, not at all.  I use BoM clothing as underwear most often.  You can wear regular mesh clothing.  If I have an open jacket, I might use a BoM tank top underneath since it's easier than finding a mesh tank that fits perfectly underneath.

The old skin you are wearing wasn't made for Maitreya mesh body.  It was probably made for the old system body. There are body skins in the LaraX folder named...LaraX Extras Unpacker HUD that should work ok with the 5.3 version.  Those skins are from Velour, one of the most popular body skins.

Where it says Velour BoM body skins...

What I suggest you do ,which will come in handy for future problems as well is, 

With your current form, Create an Outfit Folder, so you can save your current state..

Then go up to the menu in the upper left corner, go to Avatar Menu, then down to Avatar Health.

In the Avatar Health window that pops out, you want to choose, Reset Default Female Avatar (Character Test)

That will set your Avatar to default raw form and remove everything you have on now..

Then what you want to do is, Make another, Outfit Folder of your default avatar.. Name it something like RAW AVATAR or Default avatar.

You can use this Raw Avatar outfit folder, for whenever you get in a pinch with your avatar.

 

Now you want to Go back to the first outfit folder you made ,before you reset your avatar and start to add pieces back one at a time, starting first with your,

Shape

Then Mesh body and body skin,

Then your Mesh head and head skin.

Then see if you are still getting the problem with the hands.

then you can add whatever else from the folder that you want with your look.. Just keep an eye out  for the item that might make the hands go back to that clustery look..

It could have also just been something where textures from the old hands were lingering and needed to reload..

 

You can make another outfit folder of this current state if you wanted, so that you could have a nude version of you mesh body and head, which can come in handy for creating new looks and things like that..

 

Also you don't need to wear the Maitreya Bom Add-on parts.. Those are mainly for wearing things like Bom Bras and tops, to make them not look so tight to the body to give them more depth..
