LucyVoyager Posted November 26 Posted November 26 A friend of mine recently said she has software that tells her when people log on and off. She further said that she can view people remotely from this software. I asked her if it was something in the viewer and she was cagy about it. I got the idea it was some sort of third party software. This seems wrong to me and a little but creepy. Does anyone know if this is real and how to block it?

By remote!y, she may mean that the tracker sends her an email if she's offline. 3

Perhaps that part is a misunderstanding or exaggeration? ETA: Oh, I see - you covered that too 🙂 Edited November 26 by Love Zhaoying 1
Jackson Redstar Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I know there is a HUD that let's you see a person's online status regardless if they are on your friends list or not (busted alot of married couples too that came in "hidden") I used to use that as I really only wanted to know if a handful of friends were online and also I keep off the viewer online notification. As far a viewing remotely I would suspect that is some illegal 'spyware' 1
Paul Hexem Posted Tuesday at 04:16 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:16 PM I've got a device that sends me an email when certain people log in. If I reply to it, it'll send them an IM. Great way to initiate an offline IM to email conversation. 2

LucyVoyager Posted Tuesday at 07:00 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:00 PM It could be an exaggeration. IDK. this person said they have "picked up a few tricks over the years." I am going with the assumption they are watching me from a distance like they said and living my SL how I want. They probably won't like what they see anyway. Thanks for all the answers. You are sweet people. 1
Wulfie Reanimator Posted Tuesday at 07:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:05 PM (edited) The script function llRequestAgentData can be used to check whether any avatar is online, and this can be done on a timer. There's no way to "view people remotely" with scripts or otherwise. There's no API that reveals the location of an avatar unrestricted. Edited Tuesday at 07:06 PM by Wulfie Reanimator 3 1
